It's All About The Bend

Have you seen the somewhat new Kohler, Karbon articulating kitchen faucet yet? I would assume so, it seems like everywhere I look lately it's there....Now that is a good thing because I think it's not only sexy but it works so intuitively as well when you touch it, it seems to read your mind, okay I won't go that far but seriously I love the way it moves. ;)

Here are some of it's cool features:
-It has an intregrated spray nozzle
-Can be fully extended to fill large pots
-Lowered into the sink for food prep and cleanup
-Compactly folded and placed out of the way when not in use
-Pivots easily into any position and REMAINS there for hands free operation

See how it moves on YouTube.

It also won a bronze award in the IDSA annual IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) competition, so not to shabby.

It originally was released in just chrome and stainless but now Kohler has released it in a total of seven finishes for the perfect look, see them on Kohlers site in detail....

As I was writing this post I was thinking, "now they just need a pot filler, how gorgeous would that be", but after looking up finishes, look what I stumbled upon...It's truly sooo much more than a pot filler it's a true wall mount fixture for the sink, but it could be used as a pot filler too.....

Okay, so I must ask, are you as enamored with these as I am?

Not a Bad Place to "Age in Place"

Kohler just recently posted a fully remodeled home called the Green Mountain Ranch in Fort Collins, Colorado. The homeowner, Cynthia Leibrock was the designer of her own "living laboratory"/home.

It's not only a beautiful home but she truly has thought of everything when it comes to aging-in-place.

This video is just one of many videos on her home featured on the Kohler site. All of the videos were chocked full of great information and you can tell she is passionate and has done thorough research on what the needs of older people may be.

I think my biggest takeaway from this is the fact that your home can still be beautiful and stylish with devices to help you age in place without advertising to others your age and disabilities.

I think there were some really great ideas in here for others to retrofit their own homes.

I hope her and her husband continue to stay healthy and don't need these amazing features. But if not, they are going to be just fine too and will be able to age in place without ever having to go to the dreaded nursing home.

Make Mine a Black'n Tan

If you are tired of the same old kitchen sinks of either some shade of white/beige or stainless steel consider the black'n tan from Kohler.  It's a deep rich color with different shades of brown.  It looks GREAT with darker granite choices and doesn't stand out like other finishes but blends beautifully.   You know it almost looks too nice for a kitchen sink but it's not, it's a workhorse.

These sinks are Kohler cast iron, enamel finish and are guaranteed to not chip, crack or burn (heat resistant up to a 1,000 degrees).

These are easy to clean too, gone are your steel wools and abrasive cleaners. Just a soft sponge does the trick.

So not only are these sinks tough and easy to clean but are made from 93% recycled and reclaimed material.

They come in lots of different shapes and styles, the one in the picture is an apron sink for more of that farm/country feel but check out the modern vessel shapes as well.  The Black'n Tan also looks great on a travertine slab/countertop for a WOW factor.

Check out this Kohler commercial for the durability of the cast iron sinks, love these colors too! :)
