Little Girl's Fantasy Bedroom

This picture is actually a postcard I just received from Bograd Kids in the mail yesterday and had to share it with you all.

At first glance it just looks like an elegant little girl's room, but at closer glance there is more to it than that....

Look at the rug, look at the figurines on the bookshelves and who do you notice sleeping in the dog bed....Yes that is Toto.  This is a Wizard of Oz theme that was pulled off brilliantly.

Bograd Kids is a design trade only showroom located in New York which offers some of the most fantasy inspiring kids bedrooms I have ever seen.

Great New Styles in Outdoor Rugs

Now is the time to start sprucing up your outdoor living spaces.  What better way than adding an outdoor rug that can not only handle the elements but bring the look you are trying to achieve all together.  Your indoor style doesn't have to stop at the door, it can continue on to the outdoors as well.

Check out this new outdoor rug collection, not only are they functional but really beautiful too.  I hope they inspire you to think about decorating your outdoor patio with one or maybe two.....

Birth Announcement: A Baby Deer

Just born.....Can you see him in this really cloudy image?  We thought he was dead, but after doing some internet searches we found out that they don't move right after birth to keep them safe from predators.
About a half hour later he/she got up and started walking towards our house, I guess for better protection..I love the fact that they thought of us as a safe haven.  I shot this video from my window so as not to disturb him/her too much but just had to share this, such a precious sight.

I think faux skins of any animal are better than the real thing.

Spring Cleaning Time

We all know what comes with spring weather...Spring cleaning.

This may not seem like a lot of fun to tackle, but the positive effects you'll feel when this list is completed will bring a spring to your step when finished.

Here is a list to get you started...

*Get organized by getting rid of clutter, wherever you find it...ie: closets, drawers, etc.
*Clean and reorganize bookshelves
*Paint any rooms that need it
*Move art work around
*Air out your house, throw open the windows for some fresh air
*Start a Salvation Army donation pile and giveaway what you no longer need
*Don't forget to have slip covers and carpets cleaned if they need it
*Check batteries in smoke detectors and emergency flashlights
*Caulk cracks or gaps around pipes or window frames before you turn on your A/C
*Wash your windows (inside and out)

The best way I get through spring cleaning is by kicking the family out of the house, putting on some grubby clothes and cranking the music in the house to flashback 80's music...It always puts me in the mood....For spring cleaning?  Ha, who would've thought back in the 80's "my" music would help me through spring cleaning?

Let me know what spring cleaning music you listen to.

Under The Big Tent

I think striped walls add so much to a room and I love the overall feel of a "tent" room as well.

I just saw this picture the other day and had to share with all of you.....Look closely at how they painted the walls to create a fabric/tent feel....Isn't that a great idea?

A Smart Cooktop

Appliances keep getting smarter. Thermador has just made our lives a little easier. We've all dealt with the messes created when our pots boil over.  Thermador's Sensor Dome addresses this issue, helping us to achieve culinary success and cutting back on the clean up issues.

Their "Sensor Dome" is a pop-up dial with an infrared beam that measures and regulates the temperature of cookware.  In doing so, it prevents pots from boiling over and maintains the ideal cooking temperature.  When not functioning, the dial retracts, sitting flush with the stovetop's surface.  Small and unobtrusive, it addresses and effectively solves a problem we all face, often on a daily basis.

I am not sure if it's worth buying a whole new cooktop but if you are looking to replace one it might be a nice feature to look for.

Wing and a Prayer

I have been following Motoart now for awhile...My first love being design and my second love being airplanes.

This California company turns old airline and military plane parts into high-end furniture and functional art for your home or office.

Everytime I look at their site I drool....They are all soo creative there and everything they make is not only well made and beautiful but most likely one of a kind too.  Who wouldn't want to own a piece of this kind of history?  The romance of flying....

Talk about taking recycling to a whole 'nother level.

If you are a design or airplane enthusiast like myself, you have to check them out to get your wing...I am still praying for mine.
